Legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has conveyed his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, for extending him an invitation to visit Pakistan.
Arguably one of the most famous personalities in the world, Mr. Bachchan was reportedly overwhelmed after receiving the invitation. He had previously expressed his desire to visit Pakistan if he were ever invited. Sure enough it wasn’t long after that, that Pakistan’s ex-Prime Minister extended him the courtesy.
In a response to the invitation, the 71-year-old actor assured Hussain that he will most definitely be crossing the border, whenever he next has the opportunity. Bollywood’s Shahenshah said he had “very vivid and emotional memories” of well-wishers from Pakistan who prayed for his recovery after his injury on the sets of ‘Coolie’.
Some of Mr. Bachchan’s other films include: ‘Lawaaris’, ‘Namak Halal’, ‘Kaalia’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and what is widely-considered the best Bollywood film of all time, ‘Sholay’.
In his response to the invitation Mr. Bachchan also revealed his Pakistani roots. His mother, Teji was born in Layyalpur (modern-day Faisalabad), and graduated from Government College in Lahore.
An invitation was also extended to Mr. Bachchan by Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi for the Lahore Art Council’s Annual Cultural Conference that will take place in May, later this year. In addition to Mr. Bachchan, eight other Bollywood actors have been invited.
